In 2013, Interboro was hired by a major developer of office buildings to retrofit a large, underperforming office building near John F. Kennedy Airport. Based on an in-depth analysis of the logistics industry, an empirical study of the functionality of office building complex, and numerous interviews and surveys conducted with office workers, Interboro made a number of recommendations for improvements that would both attract new tenants and make everyday office life better for existing tenants. These recommendations ranged from large-scale, planning ideas like adding a private JFK shuttle bus, to building-scale ideas like adding a public atrium and public circulation, to smaller, practical ideas like reorganizing the parking lot.
